ViraTek Misting Tunnels

Overview

ViraTek Decontamination Misting Tunnels are designed to provide complete coverage of any product conveyed through the work opening. Misting tunnels are self-contained and portable to move easily within a facility. Four stainless-steel casters, with locking brakes, allow smooth transfer throughout the facility. If desired, the misting tunnel can be locked into place in a specific location and can be used with an optional pass-through door for dirty/clean room settings. If utilizing the optional pass-through door, the entire misting tunnel is situated on the dirty side of the pass-through door, and an off-load conveyor attaches to the pass-through door on the clean side where the pass-through door can be closed when the misting tunnel is not in use.

As the product moves through the misting tunnel, spray nozzles are strategically located above, below, and on both sides of the product to ensure 100% sanitization coverage. Spray nozzles are complete with 200 mesh filter screens that are easily removable for maintenance, cleaning, or replacement. The nozzles have a capacity of .018gpm and are provided with a needle valve for optimum performance. At the end of the spray pipe, there is a shutoff that can be opened to flush the pipe in case of debris blockage. A creased, single drain pan increases the efficiency of drainage back to the reservoir with a filter screen to prevent debris from entering the drain.

BENEFITS

  • ViraTek Misting Tunnels stop pathogens before they enter your facility by simply locating the portable (or fixed) unit to receive all incoming animal crates, bedding, feed, etc. All items fed through the misting tunnel receive a fine mist of sanitizer, providing complete coverage in 7 seconds.
  • ViraTek Misting Tunnels increase the productivity of staff. Studies show it takes over 2 minutes for facility staff to completely sanitize the exterior of each incoming item via hand spraying. Not only does the misting tunnel save time, but also it eliminates repetitive hand motions associated with hand-spraying.
  • Consistent and complete coverage is ensured since variations in employee techniques and capabilities are eliminated.

Vivus –ViraTek Misting Tunnel Pass Thru Frame & Door

Addressing Your Viral Protection Needs

STAINLESS STEEL PASS THRU FRAME & DOOR are constructed of 304 Stainless Steel and can accommodate a 4”-8” thick wall. The stainless steel rollers on the bottom of the frame ensure the smooth transition of all items moving through the Misting Tunnel to the Off-Load Conveyor. The hinged door is gasketed and secured in place with two adjustable lever locks. The door can be sealed when the Misting Tunnel is not in use. The Pass Thru Frame and Door provide a seamless nesting design that makes the transition from dirty room to clean room simple and effective.

The Pass Thru Frame & Door, combined with the Misting Tunnel, comprise the Misting Tunnel System. The Photo Eye Activator allows the user to maintain a consistent chemical barrier while the Pass Thru Door is open. The Misting Tunnel System conforms to barrier requirements by situating the Misting Tunnel on the dirty side of the Off-Load Conveyor on the clean side, with the sealable door on the clean side, providing the most protection from contamination.

Where can I purchase disinfectant for my ViraTek Misting Tunnel?

We can offer for purchase NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) listed disinfectant. We have found the brand we offer is less corrosive than other brands on the market. It provides thorough disinfection on non porous surfaces of a wide range of viruses and strains.

Is my facility too small to benefit from a Misting Tunnel?

Any facility, whether conventional or barrier, that receives animals, feed and bedding, that is attempting to protect itself from viral outbreaks can benefit from the use of a Misting Tunnel. The Misting Tunnel compact size and portability make it easy to use and move out of the way if needed.

What are the electrical utility requirements for the Misting Tunnel?

The Misting Tunnel connects to a standard 110 Volt grounded outlet with 15amp service. The machine draws less than 3.5amps of power.

What are the exhaust requirements for the Misting Tunnel?

The Misting Tunnel is self-contained and therefore does not require any ductwork to be installed. The heat generated by the machine is nominal and basically undetectable.

Do I need a floor drain?

The disinfecting fluid recirculates and drains back into the reservoir which can then be drained as needed. No floor drain is required, although some customers may find it convenient to have one located near the machine.

What is the minimum doorway requirement to move the machine?

The VMT-2020 Misting Tunnel is 33”W x 60”Lx  59-1/2”H and requires at least a 34-1/2” doorway opening (a standard 36” door is sufficient). The VMT-2828 Misting Tunnel is 38”W x 60”L x 67-1/2”H and requires at least a 40” wide doorway opening.

Can the Misting Tunnel be permanently mounted to a wall?

Yes, the Misting Tunnel can be mounted permanently to a wall using the optional pass- through door. This enables the unit to be used in a dirty/clean room setup. The locking wheels are left on the machine to allow for ease of maintenance in case a problem arises.

What are the safety features of the Misting Tunnel?

There are two Emergency Stop buttons located on the Misting Tunnel: one on the load end and one on the unload end. There is also a torque limiter mounted onto the drive motor load end chain guard and eye beam activator. Safety notices are located on each end of the conveyor.

What are the routine maintenance requirements for the Misting Tunnel?

There is a permanent in-line stainless steel mesh filter that needs to be regularly rinsed in hot water to remove any debris, typically once per week. There are individual stainless steel mesh filters mounted inside each misting nozzle that should be regularly cleaned with a cotton swab, typically once per month. The nozzles are easily removed with a 1⁄2” socket. These cleaning recommendations are based on average use and will vary by user depending on the amount of fluid going through the machine and should be increased or decreased accordingly.

What adjustments can be made to the machine by the end user?

The conveyor belt speed can be increased or decreased, the electric eye delay can be adjusted, the flow rate of chemical can be adjusted, and the conveyor belt torque can be increased or decreased.

How flexible is the off-load conveyor?

The off-load conveyor has a range from 2 feet to 8 feet in adjustable length. The conveyor can be turned from side to side to approximately a 30 degree angle and with additional, optional, conveyor attachments that can form a 90 degree angle if desired.

How is the off-load conveyor supported?

The off-load conveyor has three sets of legs, each with a swivel locking caster that can be adjusted in height independent of the Misting Tunnel.

What is the chemical solution capacity of the Misting Tunnel?

The VMT-2020 and VMT-2828 Misting Tunnels each have a 3-gallon reservoir that supply the misting nozzles.

What chemicals can be used in VMT-2020 and VMT-2828 Misting Tunnels?

Any chemical that is pH neutral and produces no residues can be used in the Misting Tunnel. Currently Vivus recommends VitalOxide for use in Misting Tunnels.
