How to Choose the Correct Life Science Washer for Your Application
Clean Work & Testing Environment
Maintaining the cleanliness of your cages, racks, bottles, and other life science items is essential to maintaining a clean work and testing environment. With several different types of life science washers available, it can be difficult to know which one is best for your applications and needs.
Here’s what you need to consider when purchasing a life science cage and rack washer, tunnel washer, or cage and bottle washer to know if it will meet your needs.
5 Factors to Consider Before Purchasing Life Science Washer
- Facility space constraints
- Throughput amount
- Types of life science equipment, utensils, and items being washed
- Coordination with automation systems vs. manual loading and unloading
- Budget (new vs refurbished washers)
Our life science washers are pre-programmed by the Vivus Technologies team to meet the industry standard for washing water temperatures to ensure cleanliness. If the minimum water temperature is not reached, the operation will not begin.
At Vivus Technologies, all our life sciences washers are designed to prioritize safety. If a door is not fully closed while the tunnel washer is operating, the operation will not start or will terminate all operations immediately and display an alarm message. If the cap for the self flushing debris strainer is missing or is installed incorrectly, an alarm message will also be displayed and operation will not begin.
These life science washers are ideal for a variety of industry applications including:
- Animal laboratory research
- Veterinary clinics and research
- Animal care facilities
- University laboratory research
Vivus Technologies offers several models of life science cage and rack washers, tunnel washers, and cage and bottle washers to meet your exact needs and requirements. Once you know and understand your washer needs, you can choose the correct life science washer for your application.
What Are Life Science Cage & Rack Washers?
Life science cage and rack washers are standalone washer units used to wash and dry cages, racked utensils, transport carts, and bottles used in a vivarium. Vivus Technologies offers three different models of life science cage and rack washers to accommodate space restrictions and throughput needs. These models are all designed with manual, swing out doors and with a double pane tempered safety glass window. Automatically controlled limit switches are included at each door and guardrails are included in the chamber to prevent loads from contacting reciprocating spray manifolds. Emergency stop buttons with audible and visual alarms are located at all door zones to terminate all processing functions.
These life science cage and rack washers are designed with removable floor grating, to provide a level walking surface, and a rolling surface to streamline the loading and unloading process and support efficient drainage to the pump. The new model of the life science cage and rack washer is manufactured with a six inch sump that reduces the amount of water needed for washing, thereby reducing the amount of detergent, acid, or cleaning solution needed. This new six inch sump design reduces waste, is more eco-friendly, and because it reduces the amount of water and cleaning solutions needed it saves on costs associated with running the washer.
What Are Life Sciences Tunnel Washers?
Life science tunnel washers are automatic hydro-spray conveyor washers that clean and dry plastic or metal cages, racked watering bottles, and utensils.
Vivus Technologies offers three different models of life science tunnel washers to meet your throughput needs. With different conveyor belt width options available, each model is manufactured to meet your facility’s washing needs. The external off load conveyor belt can be customized in length to meet your process needs and allows additional time to offload your washed items.
Tunnel washers are floor mounted and can be installed freestanding or recessed through one or two walls. The washer can be integrated with a bedding dispenser and a bedding dump station to streamline your processes. Safety switches are included on all service access doors.
What Are Life Science Cage & Bottle Washers?
Life science cage and bottle washers are standalone, floor mounted, automated washers for bottles, cages, and racked utensils, primarily used in animal science and research facilities.
These life sciences cage and bottle washers are designed for high throughput, incorporating a durable load grid that allows placement of large articles at a 32 inch load height for convenience. Vivus Technologies offers life sciences cage and bottle washers in two different sizes to accommodate your throughput needs.
These life sciences cage and bottle washers feature rising, guillotine style, double insulated doors, complete with a safety switch and viewing window. Single entry operation comes standard with these cage and bottle washers; however, the unit can be modified for pass-through washing operation depending on your application needs. Operational door interlocks create additional safety and care measures, allowing only one door to be open at a time to maintain the integrity of the barrier wall. Limit switches are included at each door and are wired with the automatic control system to increase efficiency and safety measures.
